I finally got one two weeks ago and I can't stand it. I am going back to doing the washing up by hand.

I love mine... but need a new one. I have had a dishwasher for about 35 years now, and would cry without one, I rinse cycle daily and wash every other day usually but with children here atm, every day.
I use vinegar in the rinse aid thingy.......

Blanco is the brand of dishwasher I have. Does a great job on the quickest cycle if around 20 minutes. As it was a gift from friends I have no idea of it's value.

My dishes never came out dry with this one (a F&P) which annoyed me because I'd have to dry them as I unpacked. I was using the 'quick, 45C' cycle.
Now I use the 65C cycle and the dishes come out fully dry. Problem solved.

I love dishwashers!
It saves water, because I only need to put the dishwasher on every second day.
I love it that you can have guests over for dinner and the kitchen looks feral afterwards but it takes 5 mins to load the washer, switch it on, and you can go to bed.
It does the washing up for you. ๐
Unpacking takes a few minutes.
So was it the ex who prevented you from expanding your horizons into the world of dishwashing previously? :^O

I don't get the people who more or less wash their dishes before they put them in the dishwasher. Of course I scrape off food scraps etc but I don't do the full rinse cycle some do. Mine go in at about the same condition as I would wash them in a sink.
Dunking dishes into a small sink of water is not washing dishes...
I have a cheaper dishwasher that uses very little water... best eco water cycle on the market.. so I find on the eco cycle it helps stop bits being left on the dishes.
I also have a grease trap due to having a greywater system and can skim the bits out of the sink rather than let them go down the drain...
I find my machine washes better and the grease trap does not smell if I rinse first...

i have lived in two rental properties with a dishwasher and never used them. by the time i loaded the dishes in i would have manually washed up, however that is probably because there is only two of us. if i had a large family i am sure i might feel very different.

:^O No, although I don't think I ever saw him use the dishwasher.
I love my dishwasher because I don't have air/con so I have to be happy about the appliances I do have.

having arthritis and other things I really appreciate not having to wash... when I need to wash pots and pans or other stuff that I don't put in the dishwasher some days my arms go numb, weak and fatigued...
also after years of hands in dish water for a job I seem to have become reactionary to washing dishes.. I get the worst rash... no matter what soap I use.
I love my dishwasher and will argue the benefits... ๐

I would argue the benefits too.
If you have never had something (like a dishwasher) how do you know what you are missing? I never wanted one but when we bought a house that had one, there was no looking back from then on.. 100% prefer to have a dishwasher than not.
A family members OH has finally convinced her to agree to get a dishwasher ( he does a lot of the dishwashing, with the eldest sons help) - 2 adults, 3 kids. I think she will wonder why she put it off for so long when they get one. The have a newish house with space already there for dishwasher.
The OP has one and doesn't like it. If there are only 2 people in her household, washing up for that amount of people may not take long compared to 4 or more people.
Dishwashers are more sanitary than hand washing also.
