I'll give you a clue, income tax, tax on income from workers.
Nope. It comes from general revenue.
and where does the money in general revenue come from?? taxpayers.......get it?
It beggars the mind that people participate on here in serious discussions & don't have a clue, not an iota of knoweledge of what is being discussed.
You could learn about the topic if you really want. It would be a much better look than arguing without a clue.

A public service is a service which is provided by government to people living within its jurisdiction, either directly (through the public sector) or by financing provision of services.
The term is associated with a social consensus (usually expressed through democratic elections) that certain services should be available to all, regardless of income.

This is the myth perpetrated by many that all the welfare entitlements are free, doctors visits, hospitals and educatiion is free.
NO it isn't never has been and never will be. OUR taxes pay for it all. The working people of Australia pay for these services by paying income tax.
They are free to the people who do not participate in the workforce and therefore they don't pay tax to contribute to their use of these services.
Those are free public services - public schools, public hospitals, bulk bill clinics - available to all.
These services are not free, have never been free and never will be free. They are paid for by income tax paid by workers. OK!
You need a history lesson
That was truly shameful treatment of those who worked hard.

What happens though, if the public service has limited funds due to the economic climate, to finance the provision of those services?
Would it not be more prudent that a consolidation of certain services be better utilization of those limited funds?

So after lunch, it should be clear that lots of services are free for those who need it, whether in cities, in country towns, or in remote areas, and whatever background those people have. Let's keep it that way, and not follow ugly Uncle Sam.
