Religious thing?
Religion being what it is today I would not think anyone would bother fasting, could be wrong?

I have always believed that Lent was more about spiritual preparation for Easter, not as you say, ONLY about fasting.
Hey, don't quote me on this, but I've been lead to believe that the act of fasting for religious reasons is supposed to somehow prepare the mind and body for greater enlightenment while proving the practisioner is of the faithful.
You really don't want to hear what I think to that sort of thing :^O

In my experience....
No meat can be eaten on Ash Wednesday and all of the Fridays during Lent. ( applies to all Catholics 14 and older).
One full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday for Catholics between 18 and 59.
Two smaller meals are permitted, coffee, tea and water between meals is allowed.
No snacks between meals.

I googled that Eve very interesting, so they are allowed to bend the rules to suit the climate. 😄

I have been trying to load a response for about an hour but it just stares blankly at me - can anyone tell me what words I cannot use.

No-one knows for sure but it definitely wasn't December 25 - most scholars think spring time because the shepherds were out in the fields with the lambs - so whenever lambing time was I suppose, but NOT winter.December 25 was a pagan date incorporated by Emperor Constantine.

The equivalent of Nisan 14 in our calendar falls on different days/dates every day - something to do with the full moon. The Jewish lady that comes on could probably tell us.
