The idea of the OP making a post like"can we get back on topic please" etc sounds reasonable but I'm a "no rules" type, so I like going with the flow. Except when posters post to cause problems. Nothing anyone can do about posters who go on and on and on.....well, maybe fall asleep but the back button is always there.
and opinons probably differ on who those "bleep"wits are too
I'm with you I don't care about off topic posts here and as you say either do not enter, or press the back button if it's a problem

Well, this board is open to all eBay members and everyone is different I guess
Yes it is open to any person to read, and any eBay member logged in can post or report. I don't see it ever happening that lurkers wouldn't be able to use the report feature. If they are logged in, the same options are available to them as to those of us posting in here.
How would ebay identify a lurker ( a logged in ebay member) and stop their access to the same features the other people posting in the threads have? The lurker might want to post after they have read 90% of the thread, or they may not.

maybe you should ask the mods am, they must be aware of who reports what

Why would a person who is not posting want to report a post on a thread that they they are not involved in?
The mods can see who is posting and who is reporting.

Twinks, that's what I've been wondering about, who has the right to judge what is off topic or not?the OP of the thread perhaps?
the participants of the thread who want to discuss what the OP is actually about?
i started a thread and specifically asked that the posts stick to the subject in my OP and gave the reason why I asked that, of course that didn't happen.
Is it wrong to expect that a thread started for a specific purpose be kept on that topic?
I see that as like a seller stating all their own terms which though they have stated them actually mean nothing if they don't comply with the sites policies?
it has nothing to do with selling, its like comparing apples and oranges.

I have no intention of asking the moderators anything as to who/ how/whether posters can report posts or not. I think if individuals are concerned about any of these things they can contact them themselves.
