I already day care one little dog in my own home and would like to take in another - does anyone know if this sort of service is allowed on ebay and where would I list it? I've had a look but can't find anything I know pet trade is not permitted but just wondered about a service like this?

There are all sorts of dog minding kennels and 'hotel's' around here but terrbily expensive and my rate is fair, , and the present doggy I daycare belongs to a lady who works long hours and loves her little dog very much so it works very well for all of us, particularly the dog who is spoilt rotten like mine.
My vet lives a fair way away so it would probaly be better to target someone closer to my area.
Unfortunately my local dog park doesn't have a notice board but I suppose I could put a small notice on a tree on a Sunday when all the dogs come out to play, I don't know if it's legal, but probaly worth a try. .
It's worth a go, I would never leave Boris in a kennel or hotel but I would definitely use what you are offering (after thoroughly checking everything out) and i would pay whatever. I left Boris with the inlaws once and when I went to pick him up they had him in a baby fenced off thing, I was so angry when they told me he spent nearly the whole time in it, never again.

Doggy day care. What a great idea.
Keep it small to start with to make sure that you can handle dogs that don't get on well together.

Good point. And remember that 2 dogs can be 3x trouble. I sometimes mind dogs that I bred. My dogs are quiet and civilized and so are those that come to stay now and then, but put them together and that can mean a riot. It is not that they do not get along, my dogs love visitors, and our visitors love coming, but it all get so much more boisterous.

Just thinking back to when i was very young i wanted a dog badly to care for ( but wasn't allowed to keep a dog of my own ) so in desperation i put fliers in surrounding letterboxes asking if any one needed thier dogs walked or fed..My response was amazing with some lovely older people unable to walk thier pets and even a young couple who worked long hours in the police force who had two pet dogs that never got out on a lead until i came along ..I have noticed alot of people advertising services and simular to what you wish to do on the gumtree pet pages..Hope it works out for you

Thanks for all the suggestions I have put a notice in Gumtree but there's a lot of competition there, mainly for dog walking.
.
I have one little dog myself, and my other dear one passed recently, and a daycare doggy, but the 3 of them got along beautifully. I don't want to have more than 4 dogs, 3 are manageable. If it were me I would much rather leave my dog in a private home than a kennel or one of these doggy Hotels where they have TV and heated blankets, piped music, blah blah that I know my dogs couldn't care less about and the charges are horrific. . Here at my place they have the run of the place, plays in the park, my company and are very happy and that's where I'd want my dog to go to, so it's just a case of getting the message out there. I'm not precious either about them using the couches or bed which I put covers on and honestly, the house is like one big kennel, lol. But honestly if any dog lover out there wants a bit of cash and loves dogs it's worth thinking about.

If you are on Facebook do a search for Garage Sale pages in your area. They usually allow people to advertise home based businesses on them, that is how we found the gentleman who mows our lawns for us and another who does handyman type work.
Advertising at your local vet offices is another option as suggested, and I would also suggest any doggy grooming parlours that are around too, ask them if you can advertise there.
Local paper, community notice board etc as has already been suggested.

Just another thought, maybe you could consider holiday sitting, that would be what I would be looking for. Somewhere for Boris to stay when we are away, whether it's a weekend or a couple of weeks.

Yep I'll be doing that too, holiday sitting and overnights. Thanks for the tip about FB I'll have a look right now. I've already got a couple of 'bites' if you know what I mean, lol, so will have to do some interviewing of the little ones.

Good luck with it, wish you were in my area.
