Dog Question Number 1: How to get her off the lounge.

Self explanatory.

Yes we have a dog bed for her. She ignores it unless we put it ON the lounge then she will jump straight in it.

Commands haven't worked so far. We have to drag her off the lounge at the moment and even then she keeps her legs and head firmly down.

And no she can't stay on the lounge because a) she is a bassett which means she has an oily smelly coat and b) she slobbers and drools so makes a pretty hideous mess when she shakes her head.

She is a bassett hound so WAY more stubborn than your average dog and nothing seems to be working.

Have you tried to raise her dogbed? Perhaps get a cheap lounge chair and make it her bed-chair. I have a feeling that she does not like being lower than her hunans.

Dog Question Number 1: How to get her off the lounge.

I don't have room for another special armchair for her. And as if she would sit in THAT anyway. All that would happen is that I'd have an unused cheap piece of furniture in the room while she lounged on my good furniture.

And as for her being lower, she is a bassett so will ALWAYS be lower lol! But I appreciate she wants to be part of the family. But like the dog in the video she is more likel;y to get on when the family isn't around to tell her to get down.

We do have covers but it is an expensive 3 metre lounge - i'd like to be able to see it/sit in it without the ugly covers you know?

Stawka, my old dog did the dog vs sofa highlights trick when we left him home one evening.  He was just a pup really.  It makes me laugh to see the old dog lying on the floor just ignoring him.

Martini, sorry, can't help you 😄  Just keep dragging him off and saying no might at least limit it to him only doing it while you aren't there.

OMG Joono! Lol!

After seeing that, I suppose I should be grateful that all she wants to do is sleep on the lounge . Smiley LOL
