A friend of mine in US was saying that unfortunately, mask wearing over there has become a political issue rather than a health issue.
That's a great pity as I see it as one of the simplest things we can do to try to guard against infection. I'm in melbourne and have no trouble with the concept of mask wearing when I am out and about and think it would be a good idea if we kept it up for a few more months.
I am not surprised Trump has come down with it as I would think he was at risk. High profile politicians have to meet a lot of new people all the time, go lots of places etc. He should have been wearing masks religiously. The timing is very unfortunate for him. I hope he and Melania have a smooth recovery but I also hope their illness serves as a lesson in USA that the virus can hit anyone, no one is immune. Many states there just don't seem to be doing much about it and they could lift their game.

Well, he is in hospital now receiving cocktail of experimental drugs, according to news report released by the WH.
I really hate conspiracy theories, but sadly, with this president, none of the theories I saw seemed too far fetched:
1 - he is just pretending to get out of the next debate
2 -he is just pretending to take heat of him for his white supremacist statement
3 - he is just pretending, will stay out of sight for a while and then come back saying "I told you it is nothing", so stop worrying, go back to work. The 1/4 million dead did not really have COVID-19
4 -he is just pretending, will stay away for a while, will claim he used Hydroxychloroquine and it cured him, and sells all that stash he has to hospitals
5 - he will claim the democrats infected him
Do you remember when Hillary had pneumonia? As soon as she stumbled getting into the car, Trump was loudly pointing out that she is weak, not suitable to be president. He milked her illness for all he could. Now, democrats could go on how he deserves what is coming to him, but they do not. I am sure they will point out to him some obvious facts, but they are not gloating. And that is the difference, there is nothing so low Trump would not stoop to, while Democrats just do not do that. Sadly, in present time having some principles does not help.

If I had to voice a conspiracy theory, it would be that his symptoms are not really as 'mild' as he would like us to believ.

Given - he has great fear of hospitals - he has never in his life overnighted in hospital.
He has taken the advice to go - interesting because the White House has a full hospital with 24/7 medical staff.

Nothing about him is mild.
He will either claim no symptoms or a near-death experience.

So Melania is left alone when he said they would do it together.
So if he gets drugs and it works he will say he saved the world
