The link notes there are 62, mainly grass fires burning. The whole country seems to have had good winter rains so plenty of grass around and not enough stock after years of drought to eat it all.
My own farm has got grass a metre tall in places, the largest bulk of material going into summer I have had. Its on steaper slopes, so cant slash it. All I can do is cross my fingers and hope.

That's okay, David. It will be a short-lived record.
This year will be surpassed next year. If not, 2022.
Long live coal.
