Drunk or Fat. A quandary

How intoxicated you become when drinking could boil down to the simple choice of whether or not you mix diet soda or regular with your vodka or rum, a new study finds.

I don't know. I was just answering Margo who seemed to be thinking of soda water.  I was thinking Americans call soft drinks sodas.

It appears so.  I read an article recently on how sugar is a catalyst for fat.

Maybe another poster can give more details. .

It must be to do with the artificial sweetener.

The people mixing their drinks with diet soda breath test in a higher BA range than those mixing drinks with regular soda.

As our soda water does not contain sweetener, unless we add it, I assumed they were talking about soft drinks/diet soft drinks.

Our soft drinks are called soda or soda pop in the USA.

Yes, hence my reply to Margo.  ๐Ÿ˜„

This sentence suggested she was thinking of soda water "I drink scotch and soda didn't know they had diet soda did not know it was fattening."

There is diet tonic. I have not tried it and have to be very careful at the shops not to buy the wrong one, the packaging is nearly identical. It would not taste the same, and I am not a fan of artificial sweeteners.

I am the same.  I think the claret in the cardboard box "thingy" had something to do with it on my 21st.  My first and last hangover.

I now get intoxicated with the atmosphere!
