Me neither. I've had a couple of offers (pretty common in nursing) which I declined.

Yes, and there are some who actually believe being homosexual means you are a paedophile.

That has to be the funniest post I have read in ages 🙂
I wasn't trying to be funny, really, sometimes I "speak" without thinking.
It wouldn't bother me much but other people might be upset over it.............................
I am actually experiencing dramas with my niece atm, she "thinks" being gay is a choice............her one gay experience has ended in disaster, so now she is wondering if it was peer pressure. (she is 18)

From the link provided:
Calling on his Dublin city congregation to support same sex marriage in the upcoming Irish referendum, set for the end May, Dolan said “I’m gay myself.”
A referendum on same sex marriage will take place at the end of May 2015. Although polls consistently show that over 70 percent of the Irish are in support of gay marriage, campaigners admit that there’s no room for complacency during the run up to the vote.

I have never had an offer....................... I did have workmates and friends who were openly gay (nurses and doctors) and the dramas were unbelievable.

Beg to disagree, IMO the pulpit is the exact right place for it to be aired as it's an issue between the priests, practicing catholic homosexuals and the catholic church.
It creates a possibility of opening up dialogue between parishioners church and clergy.
...............................................................................................................................................................................
Church elders have plenty of opportunities to speak to their congregation members, individually and at various functions. Plenty of opportunities to be honest and initiate open discussion on topics such as homosexuality.
The pulpit is not the place.

Sermons are usually given on current social issues and how it relates to our beliefs and the Church teachings, ours last weekend was about acceptance of the beliefs and lifestyles of others in our neighbourhood. (This included openly gay people)
Some older members of the congregation were shocked................ most were accepting and discussed their thoughts after the service.

Did you know you were heterosexual before you had your first sexual experience?
Yes.
Do you imagine that in order to remain celibate you have to be (mentally if not physically) a eunuch?
Yes. That is my understanding of a vow of celibacy

Nuh uh. I like men. End of.
Why not bring it to the congregation. Would have gone un-noticed probably if he said in elsewhere and who knows the back story that made him mention it - maybe it wasn't as out of the blue as we might think.
I still wouldn't trust him around kids unsupervised.

That is a contradiction of what you have posted in this thread
