ED, A&E or casualty?

Im just wondering what you call your local hospital emergency section of the hospital. I think it must vary in places and times.

(ED - emergency department, A&E accident and emergency)

ED, A&E or casualty?

In the local hospital to me, of a weekend, there a dr.in a separate part to emergency, that one can go to and be bulk billed, they are only there sat, sun and public holidays, if it is something that needs to be attended to in emergency, they just ring and you are sent over and seen straight away.

They are there from 1.00pm till 11pm.

It is a good idea and doesnt hold up those waiting in emergency for something that is urgent.

ED, A&E or casualty?

I phoned the radio dr (Easter Sunday) to ask about my daughter symptoms and they said take her to hosp ED and he would phone through to them. When we got there they had her name and details then they put her in a small room with a bed. It took a while for a Dr to see her but she had a bed while waiting.
That was at a fairky snall hosp, not a big city one.

ED, A&E or casualty?

We just call it emergency here Em when our daughter was about 7 she swallowed a $2 coin, and we were sitting there nearly all night waiting to be seen, we finally saw a doctor in the early hours of the morning. They are so busy here.

When OH went in with what he thought was indigestion that he'd had for a couple of days, they put him straight through, he was having a mild heart attack.

Here in good old Geelong it seems to be the Bulk Billing clinic!!!! ED is usually filled with very minor issues!!!
