I have read all of those scriptures and NONE say that you should not marry. Paul advises against it - be like me.

This scripture says exactly the opposite:

1 Timothy 4:1-16 ESV / 5 helpful votes

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Me thinks this thread is becoming far to serious, time to lighten up.

I didn't mention priests being forbidden to marry but you are right that may never change But the  people who want

desperately for the Catholic church to move forward are its members, laity and

secular alike because there is a huge shrinking in numbers  Three of my friends, nuns,  have had no new members in their respective orders for years, and this is happening across the board .  The same with priests.  Many of the rules by which catholics are required to live

in these days are no longer viable.  .

Sorry, not sure what I was thinking when I was replying to your post, I'm sure I had a reason ;\

OK - Abortion.  I cannot imagine a nun believing that the Church should change its stance on abortion.  You will find that all major religions have similar teachings ie only acceptable under certain circumstances (likewise the Catholic Church)

Contraception - I would be interested to know what your nun friends think about the CC teachings re contraception.  Love and Responsibility by John Paul II is a very good read.

Homosexuality - again, most major religions have very similar teachings.

I think it is interesting that Islam probably being one of the more stricter religions, attracts many converts.  Could it be a case of people looking for something 'more' ?

Some sources state that ordination of Catholic Priests is on the rise.  Not sure about the nuns. Haven't had time to research.

So what exactly do they mean?   Explain one by one.

OK, when are you starting it? You need a lot more feedbacks than I have (I think it was 40) to start a group.

Will you invite me?

I'm taking Andy out now for a while to his music gig. Talk again tomorrow, if I am able.

Rabbit, remember when we spoke about it last time, I dont want to start a group because I dont feel I can commit to regular contributions, if you like.  I dont think that would make me a good group starteruperer :^O

Maybe someone else from here could?

If I did, of course I would invite you.

Have a good night, Rabbit.  (and yes will hopefully chat tomorrow if i'm still here.....this flu has been really bad...)

West's works were often focused on international politics and the role of the Roman Catholic Church in international affairs. One of his most famous works, The Shoes of the Fisherman (1963), described the election and career of a Slav as Pope, 15 years before the historic election of Karol Wojtyล‚a as Pope John Paul II. The sequel, The Clowns of God, described a successor Pope, who resigned the papacy to live in seclusion, just as Pope Benedict XVI did in 2013.

It is a long time since I read "Children of the Sun", but it is about orphan street children who beg for food outside the vatican walls.  They are ot allowed inside, where people and buildings are dripping with gold and wealth.  A very telling tale.
