Read that ... that's the Catholic interpretation of The Bible - the reasons they give are their own interpretation - not the Bible's.
Neither Jesus, Paul or anyone else said " don't get married". It was NEVER a rule.
"(Mt 22:23โ30). By remaining unmarried in this life, priests are more closely configured to the final, eschatological state that will be all of ours."
Give me a break! Let's take verse 30 - "30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."
As the scripture says, when you compare a human (physical state) to an Angel (spiritual state) - the rules are obviously different - THERE ARE NO GENDERS IN HEAVEN - THERE ARE, AS WE ALL KNOW, ON EARTH.
And the last paragraph in that link:
"This impediment remains as long as the priest has not been dispensed from it, even if he were to attempt a civil marriage, even if he left the Church and joined a non-Catholic sect, and even if he apostatized from the Christian faith altogether. He cannot be validly married after ordination unless he receives a dispensation from the Holy See"
Please explain? Why would a priest, who resigned and is no longer a priest, or even a Catholic - have to get the Pope's permission to marry???

Those 3 (4) issues are not negotiable in the church so it will make no difference what his private thoughts are.
His thoughts are not private but public and all issues are negotiable for re-evaluation in any system. . If you wish read about Vatican 11 and the changes that were made then
that in the past were not negotiable.

This stance will not move the Church forward which is so desperately
needed but keep it entrenched in the dark ages and well and truly stuck.
Dark ages....To understand the reasons behind priests not being able to marry for example, you need to go back to the basics. The Bible has not changed.
Who are the people that want so desperately for their Church to move forward?
I didn't mention priests being forbidden to marry but you are right that may never change But the people who want
desperately for the Catholic church to move forward are its members, laity and
secular alike because there is a huge shrinking in numbers Three of my friends, nuns, have had no new members in their respective orders for years, and this is happening across the board . The same with priests. Many of the rules by which catholics are required to live
in these days are no longer viable. .

Because it is a Sacrament - Holy Orders

Where this Pope's power is, is to appoint new Cardinals who are more "liberal" in their ideas. He won't be able to make changes for a while as most of the Cardinals are quite conservative in their views. But, as they die off, and if he stays alive), he can change the numbers and then the policies ...
Like appointing High Court judges ๐
