Prince Philip is stepping down from public duties from what I've just read.   Strange to call an "emergency meeting" of all staff just for that though.  Perhaps it means something else as well?

Or just  make a public announcement that would have done the same thing rather than create an "emergency" aspect so that their loyal subjects wouldn't hyperventilate  ..

I think it is probably fair enough at his age. It isn't happening though till about August so I am not sure why they called an emergency meeting about it. I presume they need to advise in advance so people stop sending him invites but it didn't need an emergency meeting.
