RIP Ronnie Spector
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/ronettes-ronnie-spector-dead-1283586/
Ronnie Spector, the leader of the girl group the Ronettes and the voice behind immortal classics like โBe My Babyโ and โWalking in the Rain,โ died Wednesday after a brief battle with cancer. She was 78.
โRonnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face,โ her family said in a statement. โShe was filled with love and gratitude. Her joyful sound, playful nature and magical presence will live on in all who knew, heard or saw her.โ
The Ronettes were the quintessential act of the early Sixties girl group era, and Spectorโs silk meets sandpaper voice powered all of their songs. And while โBe My Babyโ became the defining song of the entire time period, they also charted with โBaby, I Love You,โ โWalking In The Rain,โ โ(The Best Part of Breakingโ Up),โ and โDo I Love You.โ
