Equlity. Good thing or not?

This is a simple poll (or is it );-)B-)]:)

The question is:-

Should all people be equal?

Give ita bit of thought before you answer.

If you answer Yes

Why did you answer in the affirmative?

Describe the :"equal" person that everyone should modeled on

If you answer No

Why did you answer in he negative?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Re: Equlity. Good thing or not?

For your first paragraph, you already know my views on that as I have spoken here already on many occasions about my efforts to enable children - regardless of culture, race or disability to have access to an equal and just education.

and yet you said (which was what I replied to)

From an economic and academic viewpoint - I just don't believe that equality "should" exist - call me an ascriber to Functionalism if you like, but on a localized level I believe in a meritocratic system where those who make the effort reap the rewards

I agree with the Australian Values which I added earlier which Immigrants to our Country sign

OK - 2 kids in the same school, studying the same subject - lets say Math - with equal ability to access the curriculum......

One spends at least 3 hours a day studying and practising his Math over and above what the teacher prescribes - the other does no more than what is required.

I believe that the child who put in more effort (assuming they display higher results) should reap the rewards of that effort. I don't think that both children should be awarded the same grade for the sake of equality.

And until you answer MY QUESTION about Feminism - there is no point interacting with me anymore.

if you dont think poddy or crikey is spouting a political message newstart you've definitely missed something .

Sorry, did not read all the comments, to many. I read yours but I do get the feeling you are very into political threads, am I wrong?

I can't speak on behalf of Poddy - but I have no political agenda - I know very little about politics at all - (much to Poddy's disgust).

My only opinions of anything close to a political nature is that I don't believe in a welfare system for those who are undeserving and I think the Queen rocks and Quentin Bryce is an amazing woman. After that - I'm all out.

I have different views to you about Unions and Capitalism - I'm sorry about that - my views have been formed by my own intrapersonal values and experiences. Among other things I've studied Business, Economics, Sociology and Employment Relations at uni and have grown up in a business orientated family - and have formed my views from this background.

So, I think it's time that you backed off me about my political beliefs, eh? I entered one thread about Unions - I don't generally comment on topics of a political nature.

Again, I apologize that my views are different to yours, I'm pretty sure that I have never condemned you for your political beliefs or otherwise -  but I don't think any of that warrants your constant snarky remarks in recent times.

when it comes up i might say something. this is poddys right-wing stealthy approach to things (with assistance from his sidekick). they  push the philosophy in these as being 'food for thought'  rather than  'endorsement of some kind of post-modern serfdom' (think $2.00 a day)  as i see it.

Who is saying they should ? are you assuming this ?

and  I have answered your question re feminism as much as  I am going to.I won't put some academic term to it so that you can understand. It is all about equality .It is covered in the Australian Values ....I respect our Countries Values. It's a shame they need to be written down and it may not hurt all Australians to take a look at them ?

As far as education ....I don't believe that older age 'professional students' should have unlimited  credit on their fees if they do not plan to repay the money.

So, you can't substantiate your statement and you don't know what you are talking about. Feminism is not an academic term - but there are many, many different aspects to feminism - some feminist theories even promote Patriarchial Values!
