Equlity. Good thing or not?

The question is:-

Should all people be equal?

Give ita bit of thought before you answer.

If you answer Yes

Why did you answer in the affirmative?

Describe the :"equal" person that everyone should modeled on

If you answer No

Why did you answer in he negative?

If the question was COULD all people be equal or equality ever be achieved I'd probably answer 'no - not yet'. But the question was an idealistic one about whether there SHOULD be equality LOL

That would be more coveting than inequality. Everyone should be afforded the same opportunities and be provided with the same benefits - what people choose to do with the same opportunities etc is a different matter.

So it is the OPERTUNITY for equality that you desire not equality at all.

Opertunities abound everywhere, if you care to look. The problenm is that there are those who want to have everything handed to them on a silverplatter by a nubile waitress.

And yes there is a point, it is to highlight that so many people  are in persuit of the illusion of equality and they draw comparisons between themselves and others.

Perchance these words of wisdon (not mine sadly) may generate some synaptic activity

equality is not an illusion, its a work in progress. if some harness negative energy to motivate themselves thats not whats important.. its the outcomes that are important.

more fan-boy reasoning . its fine for you to admire the ginas of this world, but not all share that right wing enthusiasm for the uncrowned princes and princesses of this world.

Someone in a wheelchair can not walk up stairs no matter how far they care to look.Only a self focused, bitter fool would not realise that is a fact .

In a society where equality existed there would be no enovation, no achievement, improvement or detererioration of the status quo would not exist.

There could be no individual thought and that society would eventually die of boredom.

They were controlled.

To free them did not make 'everyone else' controlled or limit them

The life, welfare and worth of every human being should be deemed of equal value before the law and in the eyes of his/her community.

This should be so obvious as to be a cliche and it is, in fact, the underlying principle of communism. Unfortunately though, it is merely a Utopian concept. People are not born equal. Physically and mentally they are the product of their genetic heritage and while the law may treat them equally (provided they can afford the lawyers fees) society values them only according to their gifts. One has only to observe the amount of media coverage given to the Paris Hiltons and Lance Armstrongs  of this world to realise how true that is.
