Evolution - Yes again.

Can someone please read this information, and Yes, it's a creationist site, but it explains the  life-from-nothing / evolution theory and how it is flawed..

I understand most of what he is saying, and the arguments seem very logical to me, but, I have no way of knowing whether the Science he is quoting is correct or has subsequently been debunked.

I would appreciate if someone with a bit more knowledge in DNA / RNA / proteins / cell regeneration / cell division etc could advise me.

By the way, he also quotes Dawkin's Ancestor's Tale and how, with recent developments at least some of the assumptions that Dawkins makes are impossible.

Can we PLEASE see if we can keep this thread civil and on-topic.

There is a lot more info on this site too, but first can we look at and discuss:

http://creation.com/genetic-code-intelligence

http://creation.com/meta-information

Re: Evolution - Yes again.

Unfortunately there is no evidence to suggest otherwise."Purpose" like God, is a human construct.

What a truly horrible thing to say!  When there is so much wonder around us - new discoveries are being made every day, new species, new technologies, so much to see and do, so many places to explore.

To think that it's all worth nothing without a deity to worship, is just so an anathema to me, I cannot begin to fathom your reasons for saying it.

Yes, we've had our differences, and it's clear we agree to disagree, but that's no reason to think that there's nothing worth living for!

When I crawled my way out from the cloistering, smothering umbrella of religion so many years ago, it's like a veil was lifted from my eyes - and I began to see the world as the truly amazing and complicated thing that it is. Every day brings wonder and enjoyment - yes, there are days when we wish it would all just go away, but...that's more than offset by the complexity and diversification and sheer beauty that's all around us if we just look!

I value evidence - that's why I KEEP asking for some.

THere're evidence from, biology, genetics/phylogenetics, comparative anatomy, direct observation, biogeography, fossil records, embryology, geographical distribution etc etc. Which one of these isn't evidence?

You can say that all you like, it still does show me any, does it?

How can anyone take you seriously when you don't even acknowlede that there're evidence for the evolution theory?

Re: Evolution - Yes again.

Rabbit...I know nothing of your existence, as well you know.  I was merely responding to your post, in which you said...

"All I can say is, I hope I am never convinced that this filthy existence is all there is, or I may as well find a nice oncoming B-double and go out with a bang."

I, and many others like me, would hate to see you do something stupid purely because you felt that there was no deity looking after us.

There's just too much wonder and amazement in life to focus solely on a deity who'll reward you when you die.

No. I don't know what your life is like - whether it's been good or bad, or just mediocre.

But I do know that if you really do feel that this is a 'filthy existence', I urge, no, beseech you, to at least try to get some professional help. It's appearing more and more that you need it. There may well be an opportunity to speak with one of your religious leaders - or there are a multitude of sites on the 'net for those with feelings such as you may be experiencing. Please...do something for yourself.

None of us hold anything against you personally - that some of us don't agree with your religious views is both acceptable and understandable. Whilst I am a staunch atheist, many of my very good friends are deeply religious - and our conflicting views mean nothing to our friendship.

I am sorry your life seems so little worth living at the moment, Rabbit, and I do hope your belief in an afterlife helps to make it a bit more bearable. I've enjoyed this conversaton and I hope we've both learnt something from it.

I'm sorry, I didn't say life wasn't worth living. I said, or at least I meant "If I am ever convinced that there is nothing else, I would think this life existence not worth the trouble and stress". Fortunately, I am not convinced, and I don't believe in an afterlife in the traditional sense - I do not believe everyone goes to heaven or hell, I believe that when you're dead you are DEAD, but I do believe in the Resurrection that Jesus promised.

I'm glad to hear it, but "this filthy existence" did seem rather to have overtones of 'ticked off with everthing'. My understanding is that you believe your afterlife , post resurrection, will be here on Earth and I have to admit that me that flies in the face of everything we know about the Universe and  begs an awful lot of unanswerable questions.  However, each to his own, as they say, and if it keeps you on the straight and narrow I certainly won't mock you for it. For my part,I find that  though Atheism brings with it a burden of personal responsibility, it also gives me the freedom to acknowledge and shoulder that responsibility and that is what keps me on the straight and narrow

Q1. 'everything we know about the universe' - please expand on this

.
Q2. 'begs an awful lot of unanswereable questions' - please expand on this.

Q3. can we discuss 'Intelligence' V 'Knowledge' V 'intuition' V 'learning' - not in the context of God, but in a normal human context?

I realise that each of those is a HUGE area, but I hope you will find them as interesting as I.
