You really should watch it to the end; it is not just about bad treatment of animals.
That is why my meat when possible, comes directly from the farm where I know the animals are treated as well as possible.

Thanks bob and supa nova. It certainly gives food for thought when you see the whole thing.

It's confronting, but I think you need to stop and ask yourself what it is you find upsetting. Is it the process or simply the scale of it?
the footage of the sow stalls was horrifying and I only ever buy free range eggs, chickens or pork., but if we are going to eat meat then animals have to be killed and butchered.
When I was a child I lived on a farm (my family didn't own it) and we kept chooks and from time to time a pig. I watched my father wringing the necks of chickens and watched while the local butcher slaughtered and butchered our pigs. It was part of the natural cycle of life on a farm and I didn't end up traumatised by it or feel compelled to become a vegetarian.

I find the way the animals are kept and treated disgusting, but in this clip I also found the way the workers, in their uniforms and faces covered working as a part of the machine, totally dehumanising. All that so we have unending supply of cheap and sanitised food.

For me I think it was the scale - I only got as far as the cows first time before it showed that were being milked - I thought what came next was going to be worse. And some guilt because I don't question where my meat comes from.
I killed and cleaned chooks in my childhood and hubby grew up on a farm, so I assumed he had too. Then when one of our hens was injured and had to be put down we were just about useless. All those skills gone.
