THE world’s popular social networking site of Facebook has gone down tonight across the world, leaving users unable to log in.
Users have hit Twitter to express their angst about the site being down, after they got this error message from Facebook.
It is not clear what is causing the outage yet.

When I was trying to learn facebook I kept getting that private thing pop up from some one from the US. Someone that I followed on twitter. It really put me off. Can other people tell when you sign in to facebook? It seemed that way.
Edit to say 'sign in to facebook', not twitter.

i don't do twitter so i have no idea about that.
on facebook you have the option of who can see you are logged in - if there is somebody you don't want to see you then turn off chat for them.
I usually only have it so my kids can see if I am on.
Edit: ignore the bit about twitter.

I'll have to get my sister to teach me Facebook again.
I only just found out that you can mute people on twitter. For instance I did it with Main Roads in WA. You can follow them but then mute them so that you only see their tweets when there is a problem in your area.
The internet is a wonderful thing

You are very considerate Pepe ....
Facebook does have a good side as well as a terrible one and where people use it for genuine contact with their families, as well as the commerce side of it, it works well.
The sad side of it though for many, is where it takes over the lives of those who cannot control the addiction to it and it's like anything else, it is a serious problem for those people.
At the university last year, we did a huge research project which involved just about every student and their families on the campus and the results were astonishing. They were very happy to be involved and talked about the pros and cons quite openly.
The good side of social media is very good, the life disruption side is awful.
Having said that, I use the internet a lot for study and work, and I can use it for contacts etc, but not facebook or twitter.
We have our own forum with over 900 people on it now, lots of eBay folks there too, so for us, that's the best of both worlds.

The technology is getting quite invasive. I keep getting busted singing in the background whilst blue tongue plays and chats with earpiece and mike on the playstation.
I don't sing well, I wish he would warn me
