I'm very sorry for what's happening to you people there, it's near impossible to fight the govt on this, especially when they all support it.

Our Labour candidate has already told us that Labour supports mining.

I don't know what else to do. I hate politics, I never wanted to be part of any of the political fights debates on here. I liked living in my little bubble of ignorance. I figured I can't change anything so why get upset about it. But this issue upsets me. There is no one side of politics to blame. All sides are equally responsible.

What really has me disheartened today is the lack of support from other Australians. So many people sit and tuttut about how dreadful it is but no-one will actually DO anything to stand up and be counted. I just don't know what else I can do. This mine will go ahead. Then the BHP mine will go in, then Santos will move in on to the plains with CSG. Mostly I just want to sit and cry.  I want to give in, give up but that's not fair to the others who are still fighting. I hope they are having better luck than me with getting people to listen. Smiley Sad

I've been sharing the pages on facebook but I fear it does nothing more than make people aware.

I should send a letter to my Senators expressing my disappointment in them not supporting the ag community.

Thank you Glee.

I know my friends share too, but no-one seems to be willing to even put 5 bucks towards our fight. I was on a farming fb page. Over 3000 members that purport to support farmers. I doubt if even 2 of them has actually paid more than lipservice. Imagine if 3000 people pledged 5 bucks.

Anyway, I guess there are so many fights going on across Australia for one thing or another that another coal mine barely registers on the radar.

OK sorry pimpy the  mine is so big it's going to effect the black soil isn't it?

but I guess that wasn't a 'total" untruth from him then

No, not a total untruth. It's how he sleeps at night I guess by twisting the truth.

Honestly, I don't know how much impact the mine will have on the plains. It will certainly effect the farms closest to it. It will definitely effect the village of Breeza. The biggest issue is no-one can guarantee that the underground water won't be effected. The mine will be deeper than the black soil so the underground water may run to the mine pits. This then gets pumped back out. It is contaminated, salty and toxic. I did read how much salty water was likely to go back in to the Mooki River but can't remember the figure. There shouldn't be any salt going in to water ways that feed the murray darling. There is enough problems with salinity in this country as it is. Water that famers use for irrigation goes back in to the water cycle.

I have learnt to tweet. It's quite fascinating, like a whole new secret little world. Some of the names make me laugh. Like the Archibishop of Breeza (he lives in the old church) and the Lord of Breeza, I foresee a future in politics for that young man. Smiley LOL

I wonder why the Independents were absent.

I wish all those politicians could have been present at the PAC public submission meetings. They wouldn't find it so easy to allow this mine. Not if they have any sort of conscience or care for the people and planet.

I wish they all HAD to be present for voting, it seems to be a bit of a cop out being absent on important votes

I don't think any LNP people voted for the Greens motion.  Abbott would sack them.
