Last night I cooked a "Thai" beef salad. It was pretty Australianised, but it was good.
I had lettuce, tomatoes, asparagus, red onions, green beans ... all laid out prettily on a plate. Then I added the thinly sliced beef and the lime (we were out of lemons) and fish sauce ... and then added some beetroot.
It may sound a little odd ... but it tasted good.
Anyway ... the smell of fish sauce and lemon/lime juice is one of those hunger-making scents.

I use vanilla essence and hot water to clean out my fridge,
and I have a small container with bi-carb and I put a teaspoon of vanilla
essence onto it. That lives in the fridge and gets changed once a month.
I have vanilla scented oil (the ones with bamboo sticks for evaporation)
throughout the house too.
Vanilla essence is cheap. I use vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste for cooking
