Sometimes flippant and thoughtless remarks are taken seriously if it's a serious subject.
As for commenting on a book and the subsequent film if you have no knoweledge of it???

I have knowledge of it.
I just didn't read the book or go to see the film, and I don't intend to.

I professed quite some time ago that I had read the set of 3 books.
They are classed as fiction. They are fantasy.
Admittedly, I recognised it as that. But there may be 'innocents' who don't.
The girl was asked to sign a Contract (forget, but could have been for 3 months of activity) and if I recall, was advised by the man to seek legal advice before signing. My question: was the author advised to include this in the book by the publisher?
I don't need to see the film.![]()

Did you know that they are now in the process of making a sequel to 'Fifty Shades of Grey' ?
Starring Julian Clary, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton, and called 'Fifty Shades of Gay'.

I read the book (lent to me) just to see what all the fuss was about. The writing was atrocious. But the dopey Anna...... who kept biting her lip ....... was made out to enjoy all the things he did. To me he was a masochistic idiot and control freak and I can see why many weak-minded loser men would use him as a role model and think it's ok to do all those things to women. No way would I read the others in the trilogy I'd rather walk on glass and no way would I see the movie.

It's amazing that the film is doing so well when all the early reviews were saying it was tedious and boring.
I haven't read the book or seen the movie but I thought the violence was welcomed, not unwanted. Not domestic violence so much as bondage and masochism.
Not my thing really.

been a while since i read it but yes thats it esentially. She had the option of quitting and she changed the contract as there were terms she didnt agree with. Hardly the same as DV
She had power and could walk away.
People have complained so much about the movie, yet there wasnt the same outrage at the books nor is there over porn movies. How is it different

Gosh, you've just dashed the argument of a couple here.
What will they do now? Apologise? N B L
