Our Pm has called a group of people nutjobs. In public!
Way to go PM!

JULIA Gillard lashed out at ''misogynists and the nut jobs on the internet'' and ''false and defamatory'' reports in the Murdoch press as she delivered a 50-minute blow-by-blow rebuttal of allegations that she behaved improperly during her time as an industrial lawyer.

The nutjob has a new job as a waiter in a restaurant in brissy
That's a long way to travel to work. Are eBay sales as bad as everyone is saying?

nutjob is not an illness , its a reference to bizarre points of view, not MI.
What dictionary are you using?
Or has our Prime Minister changed the meaning of a word/phrase again to suit her purposes without me knowing about it?
sheesh - the updated edition isn't even available on Google yet.

She didn't call anyone a nutjob did she?
As I heard it, she said there are nutjobs.........
and is that not a collective noun referring to a specific group of people with certain commonly recognized attributes?

Nothing wrong with Nutjobs.
The people employed at Nobby's are happy to have them.

Anyway - as the OP says, I think it's great that the boundaries of political correctness are being broken down.
After all, if it's ok for the PM to do away with political correctness (no pun intended) then it must be ok for society in general.
I think that's a good thing. I am tired of walking on eggshells in case I unintentionally offend someone.
I'm just wondering though, the term luvvies apparently has negative connotations. I see protests about its use here frequently (still haven't figured out what they are though) With the exception of definition, how is that word any different to the term nutjob?

hi Carl 🙂

Thought you were bigger and better crikey!
Catch you all later.
OK, I just had it explained to me.
I take it you have taken that in a way in which I did not intend. I apologize for that.
My point was that it seems sometimes it is ok to use the word, yet other times, as you have unexpectedly pointed out, it is not.
So how come it is OK for the PM to use the term, for you to use the term, but when I use it offence is taken?

hm... how many posters here can speak for the people with a mental illness and say that the phrase "nutjob" is not offensive??
It is a word used often to describe people with a mental illness that are experiencing severe symptoms.
