My dear old Dad would be in heaven doing just this
he could sit on a log in the bush all day listening to the
birds and the different sounds and you would think he
won lotto

Here in Oregon, we have a ritual called "skinny dipping".......all you need is a towel, a blanket, a six-pack, and a companion (preferably of the opposite sex). So relaxing up on the Applegate gorge. However, it is only applicable in high summer, the river is cooooooooooold.

Many, Very many years ago there was a popular swimming spot in a local river, but I'm not sure that it's there anymore.
The developers convinced the government that money was more important that pristine scenery, and so, a whole new "satellite city" was born...
Pity. It was a nice place, there was good fishing nearby , too - a bit of a clamber over the rocks, but keep your eyes open... the local snakes like to sun themselves there, too, ha ha.
So much has disappeared under brick and concrete, or behind fences and locked gates.
I miss the brown, tannin stained water, I miss the rocks and the sound of the wind in the trees.
I miss my childhood and the wonderful places that I went.
They're all gone now, like that little boy, lost to the swirling currents of time.
