I went to 7-Eleven tonight to get a bite to eat, grabbed a Four'n Twenty pie and gosh it was halal.
Traitors! How can they do this?
I put it back in the warmer then drove to a local Italian restaurant and we had pasta carbonara.

You would need to read a few of ufo's posts and the threads he has started to get the whole picture.
"Halal is quite a new concept for a lot of people. Because it is new"
No it's not new. Halal labels have been used on food products in Australia for nearly 5 years.
What is 'new' in the last couple of years are Facebook pages & websites (Aust Defence League, ADL) that are anti-Muslim.. declaring halal labels must go or be boycotted and the claim the halal labels is a religious tax and funds terrorism.

i can't tell you that here . but enjoy eating all the halal -certified but unmarked foods you already consume
I don't think that UFO's objection is to food being Halal, is it? I gather that it is the objection of the funds paid to an organisation about which they have suspicions, for the ability to label and promote it.
Although, their justification for Italian restaurant preferential patronage indicates a determined effort to avoid all things Muslim.
He has objections on a number of levels depending on the thread, where the discussion is headed and how many people are backing him up.

MMMmmm yummo. I love that goats cheese with truffle sprinkled on the top. It costs a fortune though.

The halal label for vegemite confirms there is no alcohol in it (from the yeast).

I like goat milk cheeses. I like most cheese that hasn't been over processed ... I don't even think of buying a cheese product made by Kraft.
When I was a kid (again, no pun intended) we had a goat that tried to dry hump anything it could cling onto, including people. I just can't get past that goat and have a continued aversion to anything related to goats, including goat's milk soap. I know that no one needed to know that, but I like to share.
And whilst I have a preference for any King Island and Havarti cheeses - I also love that Kraft Kiddie Cheese that is on the dry shelves in the blue cardboard boxes.

Halal accreditation new, No. Religious bigots and racists stirring up others with misinformation (via social media, blogs), Yes
Halal accreditation was gained by Bega Cheese in 1996. The accreditation and label means that Bega
Cheese is able to be sold in international markets, many of which have a government requirement to
include this labelling. Bega is very aware of the important role we play in the community, and the
labelling is primarily in place to ensure our product can be sold into many different markets around
the world, and it is not in response to any particular pressure in the Australian market place.
A fee is charged by the Halal accreditation body to cover the cost of inspection of premises and
issuing of certification. These charges are in line with those sought by similar certifying bodies.
Our export division pays for all costs associated with product destined for international markets and
therefore by its very nature those costs are passed on to our international consumers. We are
proud that we have been able to export the Bega brand to over 50 countries around the world,
rather than just selling bulk unbranded product.
Bega Cheese does not support extremist activities or vilification of any kind. We deal with only bona
fide organisations and have no reason to be concerned that any of our suppliers of services would be
involved in illegal or anti Australian activities
