Gadgets you thought were stupid until you used them....

Stealing the idea from icy Smiley Happy

What gadget you thought was stupid/useless until you used one?

For me its a t-shirt folding board, now that I work in a clothing retailer I really appreciate having something that folds the t-shirts exactly the same

I haven't ironed my linen shirts for a while.  I'm waiting for the ironing basket to fill up a bit more before the justification of pulling the ironing board out and warming up the iron.  Then I'll have to dampen the starched fabrics to proceed.

Now that I can relate to.....did you use the cigarette packet method of measurement?

By the time I moved in here I had two littlies and did not have time to fiddle with bell bottoms.  I discovered that there was a local drycleaner who would pick up and deliver, press only.  When I discovered that he was ex Navy I could not get his phone number quickly enough.  He did a great job and really quite cheaply.

That was also the time I discovered spray starch....did not do as good a job as the real deal hot water starch but so much easier and quicker for the every day shirts.  I still used the hot water starch for the collars though.

In the US Navy, we only had to concern ourselves with a nice sharp crease down the legs of the trousers........

My first assigned duty upon going up to the division was as assistant chart P.O.  We had a secure space where we were supposed to correct charts for up-coming deployments, but that's where Izzy and I had an iron and starch for our dungarees, which were returned from the laundry a wrinkled mess.

I bought corkcicles(for wine bottles) as a gag gift for a few friends. They loved them.

I just noticed that they now make them for beer too. I can't imagine someone taking the time to insert the corkcicle into their beer between sips.
