Ms Greer insulted a sitting PM as a woman who had a big arsse and she criticised her choice in clothing. I seem to recall the PM Abbott was crucified because someone stood behind him with a plackard that he was unaware of.

Ms Gillard  is in the process of spruiking her book and how she was treated as a woman, so is what Greer did acceptable by other women on here?  should her attacks on women be ignored? because she is not standing up for women now is she?.

Calling her comments on QandA an attack of the PM is a classic example of taking Greer's comments out of context.

So what part of saying the PM's jackets don't fit her because she's got a big arsse? why she had this crease across her back because her arsse was too big and to get over it?.

I watched that particular episode and I cringed when all the panel and most of the audience laughed, it might have been embarrassed laughter,  but they all laughed at Ms Greer's insults and Tony Jones allowed these insults to go unchecked on the night.

Greer is now known as a women who does not support other women in high visiblity positions.

She insulted Ms Gillard on national TV and now she's going after a happy young woman who is expecting another child.

She's irrelevent to today,  she's a woman looking for a headline no matter how low she has to go.

In the article in the OP that I read, Greer was completely empathetic with the woman.  Any criticism was of The Firm.

Perhaps you read a different article.

Re: Germaine Greer

Germaine Greer has isolated her self so much from what it is to be a modern woman that she can no longer contribute on a bases other than to attack those who sit in the public eye for trivial things,.
She is independently wealthy
Un married
Without kids
Is basically self employed as a writer
And has been for most of her adult life , so she really dosnt have a good grasp of what it like to be a women in the post feminist era that she faught for.

She really is a prisoner of her own notoriety so I guess I feel sorry for her ,what she may have achieved for woman has probably come at a high price in her potential happiness .
Having said that I believe she had little to offer in advancing women's equality in this day and age and in fact alienates a portion of the female and quite a large portion of the males in the world.
I'm not sure if there is way for her to regain the relevance that everybody expects from her

Re: Germaine Greer

You need to do a little research if you believe that Greer has been "basically self-employed as a writer for most of her adult life".
