Gifts in Advance - How many do this................

Son needed motorbike jacket - a good one - can I get it for him for Xmas and no gift needed then please mum ?

No worries, but now come Xmas morning I will feel oh so bad not giving him something to open, and yes I have done this in the past and yes I am soft, but how many other mums and dads out there have done this ?

Must admit we are a bit past just 'the day'.

Things are given all year.

We decide what our day will consist of - this year the 25 year old came up with a western chrissy.

As I don't cook I am hoping against hope it is not 'grits'.

Have to search out my Pochahontas outfit & show with a couple of DVDs.

One of my favourites ( if one can have a favourite ) is 'Tombstone'.

Val Kilmer is the best Doc Holliday.

Someone is sure to come up with a John Wayne ( 'the hell I will' )

My Mum's birthday was 22nd - it was also her Wedding Anniversary.

I always made sure there was a gift for each special occasion.

It was that or change the dates to more convenient - August birthday & October Anniversary.

My hubby's birthday is the 22nd.  His family never gave him presents

He only ever got Christmas presents, that's sad.

My twin grandaughters' birthday is Boxing Day.

They love it, cos we celebrate Christmas Eve,Christmas Day

and then their birthday - they get 3 days of presents.

My mum was a bit clever and taught us to cook Christmas dinner- it meant she didnt need to cook, and had a day off for her birthday as well!

Stawka, my son was born on Dec. 28. We always give him separate gifts for Xmas, and his b'day. Our younger son was born in October, so it's fairly easy to give them equal(ish) presents for Xmas, and then the older one gets additional Birthday presents 3 days later. 

Re: early presents. Why not? It makes so much more sense for your son to wear the jacket now, greencat. I like the idea of giving him a small token gift, and a little reminder about the jacket (in a card) with a scratcher, or movie vouchers.  My younger son already has his Xmas gift this year. They aren't little kids any longer, waiting for santa to come.

We have lots of birthdays November, December, January and February, so we tend to make birthdays the focus and Christmas is just a day for a meal and small gift each.

Gift for the nursing home staff, I was going to do scratchies tied on a little tree.............. local supermarket near me has them already done! Can't believe my luck, lol
