Gladys should have shut down earlier

NSW had a lot to learn from Victorians.  I wish them the best  but why did it take Gladys a month to realise that pussyfooting around this would do her no favors.

Now it looks like Morrison is throwing her under the bus too, as he does with everyone.

Re: Gladys should have shut down earlier

Gladys said we need to learn from the other countries which have been invaded by the Delta variant. Yet she didn't learn from the other States in her own backyard who went fast and hard with the less dangerous Alpha variant. The same approach with Delta should have been a no brainer. But she will never admit that and will continue to say the vaccines are the solution, not better government in NSW. And Morrison continues to back her! What hope is there?

Re: Gladys should have shut down earlier

Not everything is a government responsibilty.

This pandemic is now 18 months old - if we as individuals don't recognise - the advice - the precautions - to take - we will end up like the worst countries ie the US etc.

It's up to us.

By the way - my daughter signed up for a Vacc - a week ago - no - nothing - no advice when a vaccine would even be available - now that is up to the ' government '.

Just where are the vaccines.??

Haha, I love it    It surely says it all. Great compilation. Politicians and parrots are polly''s who participate in productions. Almost like infomercials for Big Pharma some may say.

"Gladystan." LOL, I love it!

Re: Gladys should have shut down earlier

I think she knows that now. I think the people of NSW know that now too. The people of Vic knew it for sure a few months back.

But those in NSW weren't having any of it back in June. The TV shows were full of commentators saying Gladys was over reacting when there were only a few cases. Maybe we need to resurrect a few of those clips and play them back and ask for a please explain.

Those commentators would back away from any responsibility but the truth is, they are social influencers and had a part in forming resistance to any lockdowns and restrictions earlier on.

I did hear Gladys say that she would never claim they got everything right. I think that is as close as we will get to a politician admitting error. Any politician.

The vaccines probably are a major part of the solution or will be eventually.

I have an aunt who is in her 90s. She told me about virtual lockdowns in I think it was the 1930s or 1940s. People weren't actually locked down as such but kids were kept on their own properties and school didn't start till they were 7 and that was because of polio breakouts if I recall.

We haven't had a polio breakout or general scare for a long time now and that's purely because of a vaccine.

It will be the same with this. Once the vaccination rate reaches a higher level, things will open up more and we will take our chances. It's the long term solution though, we've got the immediate situation now to deal with.

Some of what I say springyzone I have to disagree with. I would like to discuss / debate on the issue and you're always the ideal person do engage with as your replies are well thought-out and are intelligent. Sadly due to character assassination attacks and bullying by a certain connected group of people (bullies), that's not possible.

Anyway, I respect your point even though I disagree with some

I suppose it is difficult to discuss/debate - when you don't even agree with yourself. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Re: Gladys should have shut down earlier

You brought back memories, springy.

When I was a child I knew an elderly lady who had polio. She was really lovely and caring, but also extremely bitter as she seemed to never have accepted her fate.

I used to visit her with little gifts and she told me stories of her childhood and life. She hardly went out because she didn't like to go out limping and be "stared at"...  I remember that she once said she could never forgive her parents for not vaccinating her. ๐Ÿ˜ž She was really lovely, just very, very sad.

Re: Gladys should have shut down earlier

My mother in law apparently had polio at the age of about 12 and spent a year in hospital.

She eventually recovered and was able to walk. She later married and had 6 children so I suppose she was one of the medical success stories. But it must be a really savage disease. So lucky it is much rarer now.
