Gladys should have shut down earlier

NSW had a lot to learn from Victorians.  I wish them the best  but why did it take Gladys a month to realise that pussyfooting around this would do her no favors.

Now it looks like Morrison is throwing her under the bus too, as he does with everyone.

Dangerous, dystopian, Orwellian, criminal, discriminatory, fascist? Thank goodness it is the medical experts who are making the recommendations on how to try and save the Country.

It may not simply come down to " the health experts "

These are questions of human rights and breaches of Australia's anti discrimination and human rights laws are already occurring.

This today from Adelaide. If you read up on the Human rights commission website you will see it is illegal to discriminate against some-one based on their choice of employment ( interstate truck driver )

Its only a matter of time before a formal discrimination complaint is lodged by an individual or union and these matters are tested in court.

Their choice of employment is not being discriminated against.

Their point of origin is under question due to the obvious.

I also feel very strongly that we are entering dangerous territory. We risk establishing a dystopian society where one large group of people is excluded from the normal functions of society based on whether they agree to having a certain invasive medical procedure or not. Its all very Orwellian.

We should be basing these decisions on the science, not social media hype and divisionist politics. And the science is clear. While vaccination can reduce the chance of transmission and certainly helps prevent severe reaction to COVID, it DOES NOT stop a vaccinated person from becoming infected or transmitting the disease to others. ( only reduces the risk ) While the risk is lower, vaccinated people can still be infectious.

The other point to remember is that the main benefit of vaccination is to reduce the severity of the disease, so vaccinated people are not going to be as severely impacted by coming into contact with the unvaccinated as would otherwise be the case.

             --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very true and well said!  And vaccinated people can still spread. They can carry the virus in their nasal passages.  The way things are going, a dystopian society may be closer to reality than we think.  The hype appears more believable in the minds of those who have allowed themselves to become a captive audience because they have no idea about the other avenues to treat this virus. They still think that once diagnosed, they should stay at home and do nothing.  And if they happen to get sick, they end up in hospital. Meanwhile safe, successful early stage treatment is ignored.

@chameleon54 wrote:

While in some situations such as Airline travel or Cruise ships there may be justification in demanding vaccination on a temporary basis while we work through the whole COVID issue

for many businesses and companies the response ( no jab no entry ) is disproportionate to the risk. For many businesses its all about virtue signalling and branding rather than any genuine health concerns. The vast majority of businesses threatening no jab no entry simply do not have the scientific skills to make social decisions on a medical basis.

They are also placing their employees at risk by potentially forcing them into committing a criminal act by breaching anti discrimination laws. ( refusing entry to unvaccinated people with disabilities or genuine reason not to be vaccinated )

It is vital that response is proportionate to risk and allowing our society to sink into a dystopian, facist regime that demands breaches of basic human rights and freedoms under the cloak of COVID is not proportionate.

             --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While I don't believe that airlines should demand someone be jabbed as a right to travel, I think that maybe people should be tested leading up to and immediately before travel until things get sorted. I appreciate where you're coming from though.

Yes, discrimination laws are being breached. This sets a dangerous precedent, and yes it is disproportionate to the situation at hand (most definitely) and will pave the way to other kinds of abuses, both by the government and people who would naturally exploit this for an agenda or some kind of gain 💰💰💰.

Your take on this chameleon54 is like what one would expect to hear from an honest 🇦🇺 non-agenda driven politician or what the ABC was like years ago before it was hijacked by whoever.

I think chameleon54 put it well. This is where we have already partially headed.

The so-called medical experts have put this country on a road to economic destruction. The incompetent administrations at both state and federal levels are like a bunch of amateurs. If the medical experts were experts and honest, we would be seeing the implementation of safe, proven safe effective drug treatment for people in the early stages of infection. How about if doctors were no longer allowed to treat people for STDs  or  even septicemia?

That is pretty funny - really.

Having been diagnosed - and - yes - some don't really feel that good - what do you suggest they do.?

Yes, discrimination laws are being breached.

How so ???

the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, sex, or disability.

I would rather trust the judgement and integrity of our heath experts to consider human rights and equity, rather than pay attention to tangential thinkers who struggle with flight of ideas and unreality in 2021.

I'm still wating for those ' other treatments ' - which have been proven - over the years - for what they were prescibed for - but have proven non effective for Covid - to be listed.

Waiting.
