Go away Australian Border Force

One of the many reasons that I love Melbourne. HeartYour Blue Shirts are not welcome here, Mr Abbott.

Re: Go away Australian Border Force

Depends what you want to be doing Joz. For me it's drinking and not driving.

the Vic transport officials can even arrest you, and detain you until the cops arrive. Actual arrest powers, that surprised me.

Oops I did mention transport officials too. In both NSW and Vic they can also ask for ID not just name and address.

wow, seems robotic

didn't think it was a crime if you didn't have ID on you [anywhere in oz]

edit; oh hand on thats public transport

so far im agreein' with hawk

No it's not a "crime". But if you can't ID yourself, and they suspect you of something, they can hold you in custody until you're clear.

It's much easier to have ID on you.

Re: Go away Australian Border Force

Did you read my posts Joz? All I have been talking about is specific activities.

the things I do. Not general crime! I have given The Hawk what I thought he was asking for. The laws on what I was talking about.

you can be arrested for not providing ID on request in the situations of booze and NSW/vic transport.

But there no real outrage in that.

And some need the outrage.

Lucky you. With age comes a certain presence ๐Ÿ™‚

anyway...there is the law. Proof of age not just name and address for the police if requested. The Hawk, might be different where you are of course.

That's complying with licenced venue laws not the police.  Liquor laws don't come into play when people are walking in the street minding their own business.  ID is not required while going for a stroll.

but on the other hand nobody seemed to acknowledge what he was on about untill now

it isn't a crime to not carry ID on you]

Re: Go away Australian Border Force

It does if the original press release was accurate. ID for a stroll that is. If random visa checks. The point of this thread. Since repudiated, amended, and then entirely cancelled.

Never under this Federal Government, according to Mr. Abbott. So no longer an issue.

But I was, referring to alcohol in that quote, yes.
