It's just so stoopid to think God is a He and is like us humans - complete with judgements, prejudices and other "wonderful" human qualities.
Thank you meep. Yes, I did say it was stupid to refer to God as a He. That was insensitive now that I understand assigning a gender to God as Father is an important part of Christianity.
Basically I was, more to the point, referring to people assigning negative human emotions to God i.e judgement, revenge, violence, prejudices.

I do think it would make an interesting debate but from a Christian perspective, I think it is inevitable that references would be made to the Bible. I'm not sure that it is a case of "I know the Bible better than you" but more of a justification for one's beliefs. Allah is also referred to as He. That belief had to come from somewhere. As boring as quoting holy texts may be, it is those texts that religious beliefs are based on. Of course, there those who believe their way is the only way in every religion but I haven't seen a lot of it on this forum.

No, it doesn't godsandmen. But as I stated I believe the true meaning of Jesus's teachings are love, compassion and forgiveness. Is that incorrect?
That's what they used to teach us when I was a kid.

For the most part, that is correct, but it's way too simplistic. It is accurate when it comes to those who believe in him, but not to those who don't. They are damned to hell, extermination, or whatever. When you read the gospels in context, all those feel-good statements are conditional.
Did Jesus teach that those who do not believe in God will be damned to hell?

I believe in the power of prayer. I have absolutely no doubt that miracles exist.

I know the Bible teaches that non-believers will be damned to hell but I'm not sure Jesus actually said it?

I think it is one of those things that are impossible to explain or try to convince those who never experienced it. How do you deal with people who tell you that you're wrong or delusional?

That depends on which NT author you believe. Paul said nothing at all about hell. It appears that he did not believe, or had even heard of such a thing. The gospel writers, on the other hand, disagree. Fundamentalist Christians think the Bible speaks in one unified voice, but it doesn't. It's all much more complicated than people think.
