Thank you for your answer Crikey. I can't imagine what you must have been through! If religion or belief, or even "keeping the door open" helps you get through it, I think that's fantastic! Hang in there my friend, and may more good news come your way!

Believe it or not, that IS proof of God in your opinion based on science. Not good science but it is a reason you'll always use for the proof of God.
Quite possibly Bob. I don't know - but for now there are no scientific explanations, although I believe that one day as Science evolves from its infancy, that it will explain these things (I actually suspect that Chaos theory and Nash's social theory/ equillibrium go a way towards explaining the community thing.
So yes, I guess that's where I am at ATM that I attribute to God what science can't yet explain, which is why I believe the two really are one and the same. I mean the true God - the true source - not man's interpretation of Him. That Science will one day be able to explain "religion".
It still doesn't change the fact though that somewhere somehow "someone" started this whole shebang - it stands to reason that there was "a creator" even if we follow the chaos theories etc - the chaos had to have come from somewhere - and nature is too perfect to have been an accident.

I felt the same about Moby Dick and another book I can't even remember the name of - but one of those "classics" that everyone's supposed to read and love.

As far as the Buddhist belief about "the true meaning of Christianity", well, the Buddhists may believe whatever they believe about Jesus and Christianity, but that doesn't make it the "true meaning".
No, it doesn't godsandmen. But as I stated I believe the true meaning of Jesus's teachings are love, compassion and forgiveness. Is that incorrect?
For the most part, that is correct, but it's way too simplistic. It is accurate when it comes to those who believe in him, but not to those who don't. They are damned to hell, extermination, or whatever. When you read the gospels in context, all those feel-good statements are conditional.

Many miracles have been attributed to prayer, all types of prayer or invocation. To God, Buddha, Allah, Wiccan, Hindu ... I don't think one particular God is better at answering prayers than another but I believe prayer reaches The Universal Source which I believe is what/who is known as God.
I've had prayers answered when praying to God (I went to Sunday School as a child) and I've had prayers answered when chanting to The Mystic Law (Buddhism).
