Eve, I watched Angels and Demons last night on TV - have you seen it?
Is that what the Vatican looks like inside?

and, before anyone asks - no, as far as I know, there were no Angels or Demons on my TV.
I guess I should have said: I watched the movie "Angels and Demons" on TV last night.

I think that you're forgetting form where our legislation and laws came, how a democracy works and what it takes to change the Constitution. They can't legislate against the Constitution, and a referendum is decided by the majority - a Christian majority who's values and beliefs, no matter how antiquated others may see them, reflect what they want in a legal system - what they value.
It's the people talking Bob - that's what a democracy is! And the majority of the people are heavily influenced by hundreds and thousands of years of intrinsic morals and values ingrained in them from the very roots of Christianity.
Yes religious people can have a view. But you need to debate it and give rational arguments. Saying coz' it says so in the bible is not an argument. Imagine another religion is started who's doctrine said that blacks are not people and legislate for that based on majority rules.
The majority do not get their way in our or or the AMerican constitution.

It it good to see Bob that you have a balanced view on Biblical and Quranic teachings. I was under the impression that you were completely against them and that they had no place in our society.
Sure, there're some great stuft in the bible and Koran. Great literature and great teaching. THat's different than believing it's actually inspired or dictated by God.

But that's is exactly what Muslims and Christians believe, that the religious texts are inspired by God. If they believe that God exists, why would they not believe it was possible for the Books to be divinely inspired? ?:|
