Why is no one supporting our farmer
Why is Tony ignoring the issue
Lifeline has confirmed a shocking report of a grazier who committed suicide after he ran out of feed for his 400 head of cattle.
He tried to have them moved elsewhere but was told they were too weak to travel so he shot the animals before shooting himself.

When we needed help, it came from a stranger. Now we pay it forward.
All those critical and judgmental, my you never be in need for outside help.

Erica, I actually find that quite insulting. I give what I can when I can to many. Presently sewing beds and pouches for injured wildlife caught in the fires.

Can you imagine how frustrated and desperate you would feel if you were a farmer struggling to feed your stock and keep your farm alive when you read something like the obscene amount of money gifted to people like Shepard.

I very much doubt that Erica meant to insult anyone.
People can only do what they can and contribute to so many causes, no one can do everything.
Good on you for looking after the animals

I'm sure she didn't, I was just pointing it out.

go vegie, boris?
Unless you can grow your own, soon there will be no Australian vegies either.
Some market farmers in our region have sold their land to developers. They could not harvest all their crop for lack of labour and did not get the contracts to supply, unless they sold for less than production cost.
A few million dollars for their very fertile land will set them up for the rest of their life without having to work seven days per week and worry about the state of the crop.
I think even our Dairy farmers are slowly giving up the fight.

Your right Erica, was just trying to make a point without offending anyone Agree about the Dairy farmers as well, I have never brought that cut price milk, only buy local South Coast Milk.

twinkles, I really meant those that think we should not help anyone because they were not prepared for such long, devastating times.
I thank you for helping the animals. I have donated several unused blankets to our local Animal Shelter. The fires are still burning not far from us. The air is thick with smoke.

Erica where we are is prime farm land and is going through the rezoning process now.
We are surounded be glass houses, Almond ochchids, Grapes all soon to be bull dozed and turned into house blocks.
We have been here 27 years and really enjoyed having a quiet counry life style with out the worries of suburbia, yet only 10minutes away.
Its all going to be gone soon and so will I, I already hate what I am seeing happen to wide open spaces as the houses close in on us.

Lind, your post encouraged me to pay it forward. As did Hawks.
I didn't read your post as critical of those unable to give, it actually made me look at myself and the posts I was making, and question if I was amongst those being critical and judgemental. I still stand by what I said as far as dependency on the Gov, but as a community member belonging to the general public, I have no problems with helping people out when I can.
We received enormous help and support from our community and from as far away as Japan when our daughter was sick a few years ago, and I have always made it a point of "paying that forward", but this time I missed an opportunity.
So I thank both you and Hawk for the "kick in the pants"
