Australia Post are going to have a different commemorative $1 coin starting on the 30th for twenty six weeks to hand out in their change

I'm going to have to buy some new pages for my coin album

We've already had a heap of different circulation coins this year what with the new obverse effigy

Unfortunately this stupid phone doesn't always allow you to share via clipboard so I can't provide a link but if you have an Australia Post account you can check it out

It's a bit annoying you can't just buy one of the coins with any purchase that week. They say to look for the coins in your change, but what if you don't get one? Are you supposed to just keep buying things? I guess so.

But even if they had specified a purchase over eg $5 to qualify to buy one, I am sure a lot of people would have been in it.

They have sold on eBay already:

Set of 6 for $50

As always some are making a quick $ on any new coin that comes in their change (others get them before

they are even released).stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

I never purchase anything at the post office so I don't know how I'm going to get them
I guess buy a stamp with a dollar coin six times to get each one every week but six doesn't go into twenty six evenly
Then you have to ask for a different coin each purchase otherwise you have to keep buying stamps until you get each variation
That's a lot of stamps going to be sitting around doing nothing

You couldn't buy a stamp with a dollar coin as you wouldn't get a $ change.

That is the bit i hate.

You have to hope you get one in your change.

I suppose you could ask if you could possibly have one in your change.

I bet they came up with this idea after seeing the success of the Little things scheme etc at Coles. Difference with Coles is yes, people bought the cases to hold the collection (at exhorbitant prices first time round as there were so few) and yes, people were keen on collecting them, but people could be certain that if they spent a set amount, they would definitely get a piece.

It may not have been the piece they wanted and they had to arrange a swap, but they knew how to get them in the first place.

This PO thing sounds hit and miss. Buy something but you may or may not get a coin. I wonder if people will buy the collector's case if your chances are so hit and miss. I might pop into a PO today to see how I go. Will let you know.Smiley Happy

Went to the post office.
Bought a stamp with a $2 and received a $1 but it was a 2010 Girl Guides one
I'm calling scam
I understand that it's the luck of the draw but I don't need a stamp and I'm not going to keep buying stamps or anything else I don't need

Exactly right, Martin.

If you go again, just say, excuse me, is it possible to have one of the special $1 coins in my change as i would like to collect them.

They can only say no.

What I would like to know is how come we normal mortals have trouble getting even one, while you find other people seem to have stacks to spare and on-sell.

The ones who have stacks to spare and on-sell would be friends and family of staff -

is my bet.
