Of the 900,000 refugees who entered Europe last year most were received –scared, soaked and travelling in rickety boats – by those who live on the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. And have been doing in for many years, as has Italy. In meanwhile we consider the handful who came here as a disaster. We should be ashamed

No. I volunteer in another area. We don't get headlines in the papers or 15 minutes of coverage on YOUR ABC. Maybe if we hid behind 5-year-old kids we'd get some coverage. Waddya reckon?

neither does my daughter--- also a volunteer in another area... I reckon saving lives is pretty commendable.. I don't see much coverage from Greece, but I'm glad some people are there to help

Desperate family of four forced to live in their car at Narrabeen
COMMUNITY workers have called for more crisis accommodation for families after a couple with two young children have had to live in their car at Narrabeen for days.
Jamie Kinsela and Amanda Smith are afraid they will soon be back sleeping in their car with their 11-month-old baby Riley and toddler Sharna because they cannot find a place to live.
Mr Kinsela and Ms Smith said they had called the Homeless Persons Information Centre every day and been told there is no accommodation for them anywhere in Sydney.
Margaret Gallagher, of Pregnancy Help in Brookvale, and Manly Community Centre's homeless outreach worker Neil McWilliam both said there was a need for more crisis accommodation on the northern beaches.
"We're just going to have more and more families on the street," Mrs Gallagher said.
