Guidelines for posting. Community Service Announcement

I thought this might be of help.:|

It isn't to me..... as it is not applicable to what I have concerns about..........

If the posting content or style of a particular member is causing problems for you, there is a feature available to ignore all posted content from that member. This allows you to avoid unwanted or undesirable post
content. You can learn more about this function here:
http://community.ebay.com.au/help.jspa#setprofile

Any posts that explicitly violate the eBay Board Usage Policy
http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/policies/everyone-ov.html

can be reported for review.
To report a post, click the “Report Abuse” link located on every post, and select the violation from the pull-down menu.

Alternatively, you might choose to start an eBay Group
http://community.ebay.com.au/help.jspa#groups

As a Group Leader, you can select either a public or private setting and either allow public participation or limit the membership to a specific subset of friends and
acquaintances which will allow you to restrict the conversation to only those with whom you wish to engage.

You're right **meep** apologies to Az.

Perhaps timing is due to time of day the posts are reported. Perhaps the amount of reporting a single post receives. ie mass reporting.

I am curious if some on CS have more " clout " than others.

Still, I dont think it should take days.

At LiveWorld, we believe that a great party or other social gathering depends on participants behaving in a way consistent with the occasion. LiveWorld moderation guarantees that the atmosphere doesn’t take a dive, based on inappropriate content and/or behavior. We provide brands with scalable monitoring, listening, and moderation across social channels — 1 hour per day, 24/7, or thousands of hours per day; 1 page or thousands (in up to 70 country-language combinations).

Meep, I think I read there about how they can tag behaviours, positive, negative etc.  I don't really understand it but if they can tag an ID then it's not good.  If a new person comes along and they are not tagged it would take longer to get around to checking them out.

I don't know if I'm making sense but I don't want to be tagged LOL

I would think the people who have become members of groups have done so to get away from the constant bullying and unwarranted reporting. Some have used what they perceive to be lovely little pics to disrupt and destroy a thread in order to solicit some perceived response and refuse to stop the bullying behaviour until their needs are met. Some ask " How can anyone have a problem with a lolcat " The pic isn't the problem, it's the manner in which it is used and the bullying that goes with it. Childish schoolyard bullying from adults and egged on by those around them to continue the poor behaviour.

That's the main reason why the CS boards have sadly become very quiet. Folk who post here are becoming fed up with the controlling nature of some.

The folk I refer to will be along shortly to decry my opinion 😉

Re: Guidelines for posting. Community Service Announcement

More like x amount of reports flags that post joono

an interesting post i saw on the US boards....

Many, many...MANY moons ago (when ebay actually had a moderation team and before the boards were entirely outsourced), one of the 'pinks' made the mistake of actually addressing the issue of pink slaps and bans.
I wish I still had the captured material but, alas, that was many computer crashes ago (and who knew that such info would be as germane a decade later?)
No one actually 'reads or moderates' the boards. Computer programming searches for key words (such as cursing) and flags that post. The report button gets pushed XX number of times, and the computer programming flags the post (or thread).
When the flagged post is examined, it's not examined in context. It's simply looked at to see if it meets or breaks the 'rules'...with no room for interpretation of the larger picture.
Thus...people have received pink slaps for agreeing with someone or even offering sympathy for a fellow []er...if that person is named in the post, it's a 'violation of interpersonal dispute', period.
People have been slapped for 'offensive language' that wasn't...but because enough reports were made for that issue, someone decides "well, it must be a dirty word, even if I can't understand it."
Then to add insult to injury, let's say someone is directly targeted for elimination from the []...Let's say I get XX number of slaps for posting contrary opinions during election week (because maybe I am being 'difficult') with the admonishment that I'd better straighten up and fly right..or else.
Then...with enough effort and free time on one's hands...*someone* can then decide to go back through several years of my posts here on the [] and report every stinkin' thing that even hints at being a violation (see above)...I then end up suspended because I hadn't 'learned my lesson'...Never mind that nothing previously said was actually worthy of a slap... Never mind that it happened long before I was warned and there's precious little I can do about words spoken out of love or sympathy years ago.
Whining to the moderation team won't change this...if it was effective, changes would've been made a decade ago when they first instituted the blasted report button.
I very rarely post on the [] any longer because of this asinine 'moderation' and having seen the results of these 'policies' ruin the [] for dear friends as well as having been the target of attacks myself. It is, what it is.

Signatures suck.

Re: Guidelines for posting. Community Service Announcement

It wasn't so much the harmonious environment as it was the way some threads/posts of a despicable or disgusting nature stay here for days, yet a seemingly inane post can go in seconds.

I think some of us can say we have witnessed and have our own evidence of that happening (even when posts are around at similar times ) .

It's the imbalance of things ....seems to be balanced the wrong way which may (?)  not help  create a harmonious environment and/or work well to 'protect the brand' ?

If the mass reporting is happening on inane posts as Yoda suggested that could be a real worry.

Joono,Tagged good or bad ? Isn't the motto that we believe that  all people are basically good

excactly yoda

no one on katy's support thread had a problem with a pic, yes it was just bullying behaviour imo ..pretty insensitive when posters are talkin about losing a loved one and dozens of pics posted ,to interupt the conversation .

we all felt bullied .and on it goes !
