Convicts-thugs-criminals-...some of us here in Australia decended from the
original boat loads---but we dont whinge like the ones back in pommieland ...Richo.
Growing up in Oz, I was assured by my aunt, time and again, that the family ancestor was a guard at Botany Bay.........then, in the 70's, when having a convict in one's family tree was the thing, suddenly my aunt decided our guard was actually a transportee.........

It's 3 pm on July 4th in California. The celebration has not started yet. We can now wear white shoes(and carry plastic white purses) until labor day, which is in mid Sept. That is a very strict and sacred rule in America. ๐ LMAO.

I was always told that we could start wearing white shoes and carrying white handbags after Memorial Day (May 31st). Although my sister has been carying a white handbag since February (tsk-tsk). Which, I might add, is now filthy. (Double tsk-tsk). Upon Labor Day, our white accessories must be put away until Memorial Day 2015. This rule, at least in New England, also applies to white pants.
The 4th of July was a big bust where I'm living. Washed out completely thanks to Hurricane Arthur, who is passing by close enough to give my area of the US heavy rain and tonight, gusty winds. At least I don't have to listen to fireworks going off until 2 A.M. though.

Yep, artful, memorial day to labor day. ๐ LOL!
I don't think I own a pair of white shoes. I might have worn white tennies at one time in my life... but I don't recall when that was.
If I did own a pair of white shoes, I'd wear them from October-Feb, just to go against the rulz. ๐
I'm sorry about the hurricane, Artful. We have the opposite problem. It's about 100 degrees with zero wind, and 42% humidity. It's too hot to leave the house. We took our daily walk to the park, and it was completely empty.
These were both taken at noon today. Usually every table is filled with people, and kids are waiting to go on the swings.

Hope there isn't too much damage from the hurricane ! will put a dampener on a lot of peoples plans I would think.
So who'd have thunk I'd be learning American history on here lol......Where did this white shoe rule originate and the really big question is "WHY?" hahahaa
