Hi Judy. Thanks for your concern.
I should be ok. There are no creeks nearby and they're saying that the river won't burst it's banks.
As mentioned, there's about 4 inches of water in my driveway. If it get's any deeper it overflows onto the road, so the road itself has to flood in order for the water around me to rise.

Oh that is good news Crosby ๐
It always seems to happen about this time every year. I haven't gone out today either. Too wild around here too
I do hope Rachael will come home soon though. Cats are fairly clever at finding a comfy hidey-hole. Owners usually get all worried & puss eventually shows itself, stretches as only a cat can & then wonders what all the fuss is about. They come home only when they are good & ready ๐
I haven't seen Soot Rat (daughter's cat) for a while either....

I am glad that you are okay Crosby.
I am sure Rachael will be somewhere safe and sound, cats know where to go to look after themselves.
Hopefully she is home by now, if not, she will come when she is ready.
Take care:-)

Sorry, hello Beani, Misslinda & Hawk:-)

Hi Pam, Judy, Beani, Misslinda and Hawk.:-)
I'm ok thanks everybody and Rachael is back (sitting right beside me now, well fed, looking content and ready to pinch my seat as soon as I move).
I might not be completely in the clear. Contrary to earlier forecasts, the Brisbane river did break its banks and houses and businesses near some parts of the river have gone under. The flood peak is due tomorrow afternoon so if I make it through that I'll be fine. The prediction is that several streets in the suburb here will be affected but mine's not on the list. I hope they're right about that (or they're wrong and nobody is flooded).
The main difference between the situation now and the 2011 flood is that, in the lead up to January 2011 there were weeks of above average rainfall. This time around we had a long dry spell followed by intense rain.
You'd almost think the crisis was over judging by today's weather. It's been mainly dry, the fierce winds have abated and only now, late in the afternoon, has it started to rain again. However there's an awful lot of water headed this way in the river, so I hope the flood peak comes and goes tomorrow with minimal damage.
