By your own account, they train tirelessly, for terrorists events such as this one, hyped up to the point where it becomes instinctive. Humm. add to that, the idea that these are mearly targets rather than humans, (I couldn't do this) Wouldn't that somehow bleed of into situations of the routine everyday run in with a homeless man?, a deaf man carving on a piece of wood with a "knife" who could not hear the order to drop it? the boy who for all they knew could have had a real gun and intended to shoot them?
Where do we cross the line from humans, to terrorists in their eyes? Keep in mind, I'm speaking as one who has been accused of horrable things I could never possibly do. It wouldn't be such a stretch to think they'd take me for a terrorist, or a target, then to sell it to the public. I assure you, I'm a human.
Just for once quit your police bashing. Say what you like but that's what it is. This thread is NOT about you. In the case of this horrible event I couldn't give a toss about what you've been accused of.

Look up youtube. Humans to terrorists ? Not sure who classifies them as Criminals, terrorists or enemy combatants. Nothing is ever routine in hostage situations, they are all different as every location is different.

You really want it so badly to be the police that shot any of them?
Don't be ridiculous.

Waco was a Clustereff, broke so many rules in the book it wasn't funny.
Try this for Methods of Entry. This shows various methods of entry including explosive entry using framed charged.
The guy talking, John McAleese was the person who blew in the window on the Iranian Embassy siege and then
entered through the window.

And follow the other videos that come up on the right. Anything that has the SAS, Methods of Entry, Building Assaults etc
is what you need to look at. They wrote the book on how to do it and most organisations follow it.

Are you relying in what was stated by CNN??
In the event if the 1967 fires in Tasmania the reported that the entire population was evacuated bu a US submarine and a US frigate.
How reliable is that ???

I do hope the brothers and sisters both got on the same sub or boat.
It would be a major disaster if they didn't, breaking up couples like that

Just for a bit of reality.
Does any one think that a double glazed window would deflect a progectile from Barrett 50 Cal sniper rifle?
Those projectiles will penetrate an engine block , end to end

The Barrett 50 Cal. has a range of 8 kilometers and is accurate to within 2 centimeters at half a kilometer

This is worth watching re US SWAT room clearance training and it shows the SOP's I mentioned earlier.
SOP's - standard operating procedures, practised till you are blue in the face and they become instinctive,
like you know where your oppo is at all times, you walk up behind an oppo and touch him on the shoulder so he know you
are there and ready, you go through the door and you go right, he goes left, both sweeping the room a certain way"

Er. no it won't deflect a 50 cal.
It would also go through the window, through a person, through the wall, come out the other side and keep going
through whatever lightweight material it hit until it hit something solid. You might call it overkill for that environment.
BTW, That is not a 50 cal Barrett Rifle in your post, it is almost certainly a SAKO TRG 42 in either 308 or 338 Lapua Magnum.
