Vegetarians, vegans 'hated and bullied in Australia', author says
Vegetarians are bullied and hated in Australia and our culture is caught in a cycle of overreliance on meat, self-confessed meat-lover and writer Richard Cornish says.
Cornish conducted a year-long social experiment in vegetarianism after recognising he had a bit of a problem.
When driving home with a shoulder of lamb for his family one day, he was overcome with the smell of the meat and decided to pull over and eat it on the side of the road.
"I found myself face-planted in a shoulder of lamb on the bonnet of my car," he told ABC News Breakfast.
[...]
Mr Cornish sounds as if he would make a very interesting dinner party guest.
My experience only confirms what Mr Cornish is alleging. Just the other day I caught the T62 bus from Parramatta to Westmead and I was shocked to hear the bus driver bellow: "All vegans to the rear of the bus please".

i dont care what people choose to eat as long as they dont decide i need to be the same.
not sure how you can tell the difference between the various groups of people by eating habits unless they choose to tell you.

I suspect Richard Cornish is in dire need of a few therapy sessions after that lot ....

It actually surprises me just how many restaurants don't offer a decent
meal for vegans/vegetarians.
Some of them say 'vegetarian' and it has shrimp or prawns in it - "that's not meat"
Or egg - "that's not meat"
"Can't you just pick out the meat?"
Or even offer something cooked in beef broth!
And he's right about the pasty - "it only has a little bit of meat in it"
Farcryin' out loud!

"You'll ask for a vegetarian pasty and bite into it and go, 'there's meat', and they say, 'yeah, but there's vegetables, too'.
Love it !

Srawks, it wouldn't surprise you if you could hear just what chefs think and say about the veggie brigade. Many years ago I used to work in the restaurant of a top Lake District hotel, and I can tell you from first hand experience that most are an absolute nightmare to serve. It would have been far easier to allow them into a meat free zone part of the kitchen, and let them cook their own.
Or perhaps they were all on some sort of wind-up mission ?
Lousy tippers, too.

My question is; did he eat the shoulder of lamb uncooked???
Sounds like a weird statement.
I am not a vegetarian, but I don't like meat very much and I like my vegetables raw in a salad than half cooked like they are served in Restaurants today.
It's a matter of choice and taste. If one does not go around trumpeting that they are vegetarians, nobody would take any notice.

I'm not sure if I've ever even met a vegan, I don't make a habit of asking people about their eating habits and no-one I know has ever quizzed me about mine or refused to eat snything i've cooked for them. I do have a couple of vegtarian friends and if they are coming for a meal I make sure they have enough vegie options and don't have to go hungry. I guess if someone was coming to dinner and told me they were a vegan I'd do the same for them,
