I dropped my mobile getting out of my car yesterday, but didn't realise that until this morning when I found it on the ground beside the car with the back cover off and the screen broken
It has rained a lot overnight......
I have covered it with rice , but does anyone have any better solutions?

Sorry to hear about your phone, OP. I have heard about the rice trick for eventually bringing it back to life when it's wet, but can't offer up any other method for you, I'm afraid.
I am just surprised that you only discovered it was missing the following morning, when you spotted it lying on your drive. Most folk I know would have missed it ten seconds after losing it.

You will have to leave it covered with rice for about 3 days.
Hope you can live without it for that long.
But it does work - well, in my experience, it does

Funny that salt works. They don't like a dip in the ocean very much!
Yet to see one recover.
Oh gawd please disregard
No idea how I translated rice into salt

Don't be tempted to put the battery back in and try it sooner than 3 days - it really needs to dry out thoroughly.
Good luck !

A fan forced oven set at the lowest temp dries electronic gadgets out well.
Be super carefull of the broken screen, mine had the finest splinters of glass that I've ever seen.
