Couple of days ago my old laptop died and I bought new one, and I am having problems. I swear I am hitting every letter, hard and this is what I get: It's teribl spcially trying to enter paswords
I am not a fast typist but I seem to be too fast for this computer; it never registers if I hit a letter 2x in quick succession. It's driving me up the wall. Any suggestions? Besides taking it back...

You shouldn't have to slow down your typing fgs!
I'd take it back and show them - oh, and I'd be very vocal about it too

Stawka, that is what is needed.
try adjusting the sensitivity little by little until you are comfortable with the way the keys are responding.
if you cannot easily find the setting for your operating system, then don't take it back, call the store you bought it from and they should be able to help you over the phone 🙂

That is what I was afraid of. I was hoping there might be some function to make the key more sensitive. ..... I just spent couple of days doing all the stuff that needs to be done when you get a new computer. So, even if they give me new one, I will have to start all over. If they want to send it to be fixed that is a big problem for me; I have heaps of stuff listed, I am waiting fo some payments, I am in middle of NPB dispute that I want to close as soon as the 4 days is up......

Oh shoot, that's no good.
Maybe someone techno savvy will come along to help.
Good luck

There used to be a way set sensitivity levels for a mouse, and i'm sure you could do it for a keyboard too.
However that was back with XP, with W8 who knows!!!! (and who can figure out W8 anyway)

Try this ???

Otherwise google 'keyboard sensitivity' and look for your particular brand
Seems to be a setting for the problem

Thanks, I will look. The problem is I cannot find anything on the W8.
And it constantly runs heaps of updates for who knows what, most likely all the apps that I do not want, and I m almost out of my monthly limit. Normally, my computer is on from 7am till midnight, and I hardly use 1/2 in a months. 😞

If you talk to the store, mention that, too. There are ways to set updates so that only important ones are automatic.
but windows 8 does have quite a few updates every so often. Which you should get for security patching.
and if you have only had it a few days, it will have needed to do all the updates that were released before now, for 8. So it should not be as much again.

This might help. It is for Win 7, but should be much the same for Win 8. The link shows a video, but as you have limited GB left you may not want to watch it.
edit - same as stawka posted. I posted it in full to save you downloading it.
Customizing your keyboard settings helps you work better and more efficiently. By customizing the settings, you can determine how long you must press a key before the keyboard character starts repeating, the speed at which keyboard characters repeat, and the rate at which the cursor blinks.
To change the delay before keyboard characters repeat
Open Keyboard Properties by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, typekeyboard, and then click Keyboard.
Under Character repeat, move the Repeat delay slider to the left or right to increase or decrease how long you must hold down a key before the keyboard character repeats, and then click OK.
To change the speed at which keyboard characters repeat
Open Keyboard Properties by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, typekeyboard, and then click Keyboard.
Under Character repeat, move the Repeat rate slider to the left to make keyboard characters repeat more slowly, or move it to the right to make them repeat more quickly, and then click OK.
To change the cursor blink rate
Open Keyboard Properties by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, typekeyboard, and then click Keyboard.
Move the Cursor blink rate slider to the right or left to increase or decrease the cursor blink speed, and then clickOK. If you move the slider all the way to the left, the cursor will stop blinking.
