this is a new thread to follow the life and times of,
LEYROY, Ex Racing Greyhound soon to live with David

David, were the beds originally used by Foo?
If so, I suggest you get a new sheet or blanket to cover them.....Leroy may be a bit reticent about a bed with another dogs scent on it....and the scent will remain even after the items have been well washed.
Or you could try washing them with a few drops of Nil Odour in the water.....or spray them with Febreeze to eliminate Foo's scent.

i dont think it a problem with the beds, one is new and both have new covers/blanket throws.
i remember it took foo a while to get the hang of a big soft bed.
i doubt they have these sorts of beds in the kennels
prolly something easily washed
we had our first try at the front steps and he did it
he likes chicken strip treats but not pigs ears
i think getting him to 'green collar' standard will be easy
he has to be able to be 'handled' ie touched all over without reacting
this i know he will pass as i allready have rubbed him all over
he needs to not react if you go near him eating, i sense from giving him treats and breakfast he will be good there too.
all i need is the small dog reactions and as hes fine with rosie i suspect my sister in laws little dogs will be fine.
cant wait to get rid of the muzzle when walking.

They generally only have the hessian bag type beds and as they get "bored" in a kennel they tend to destroy
most things that can make them comfortable and that can make quite a mess.
My son tries to insulate the kennels so they have added warmth in winter and it's cooler in summer.

Just remember others will not be as respectful as you and leave their dogs of leash but at least they will know
what the green collar signifies.
That's the biggest problem when walking racing greyhounds as they have strict rules but everyone else can do
as they like without consequence and if anything happens the greyhounds will get the blame.
The "park" is a complete no go zone as it has Rottweilers and other dogs running around off leash on most days.
His council also removed the "slip" which is where they could run the dogs and it was fully fenced in.
Their excuse was they needed it for the BMX track but that isn't getting used much at all and it was already there
and didn't need extra track.
All that could also be because one of the former mayor's is a grey hound owner/trainer and he has his own
slipping track but charges others to use it that's if you can contact him and he has the time.

I'd poop too if it raised such a fuss!
