this is a new thread to follow the life and times of,
LEYROY, Ex Racing Greyhound soon to live with David
We hope you enjoy our journey

we went down onto the beach today, the tide was well out and its just a big flat sandy area with the odd shallow puddles here and there
so i took leroy out to one of these puddles and he danced around in the water going silly, gosh i wish i could have let him off leash.
foo hated getting his feet wet.
i have a long lead somewhere i will try to find it for another day.
tomorrows the big day, off to try to get his green collar
if he passes he wont have to wear the muzzle in public anymore.
it'll prolly take a week or so for the paperwork to be completed and for me to recieve his 'pass card' in the mail.

There's no 'if he passes' David.
He'll pass with flying colours cos you made sure he will.
He must love the puddles. Find that lead so he can enjoy them some more.

im trying not to think about getting there or doing the test
hoping there are no problems to hold us up

get it done

Awww........... look at his dinosaur
If I gave my labs - when I had them - stuffed toys, the house would be full of stuffing.
Has he had any contact with your SIL's small dogs?

yes, we have been out walking and he was fine, no hostility from them to him or visa versa
the small dog bit of the test is my only real worry about the test as you just never know how 2 dogs will react to each other
ive never seen a green collar test
so i can only cross my fingers and hope all goes well.
he has 2 soft toys, his fav is the blue one.
he carrys it from room to room.
i thought he would chew them up so i got a few extras put away.

If he's had no reaction to either a cat or small dogs, then he should be fine.
He hasn't got the 'I'm gunna chase small furry things' mentality of his racing days.
But I noticed in Tas' video how it's prob not a good idea to let them off leash.
If they wanna take off, there's no catching them.

its not legal to let them off leash in public, ever.
thats why i said about the beach 'i wish i could have let him loose'
its really sad he cant ever run free unless i find a big fenced private area.
i dont know of anywhere locally that fits that description

He can't run free? oh that's such a shame. Of course he'd love to. Is there no fenced football ground or similar you could 'sneak' him in or something similar? Maybe real early in the morning? If it's clear or other dogs even a 10 min fast run would do him the world of good.

I meant to say if it's clear OF other dogs, stupid editing didn't let me get there.
