This is not a discussion of the locked thread as much as what makes one case a higer profile than another.

The Jill Meagher case was talked about here

So was Keishas murder even before it became a murder

And there have been more, so I do wonder why the other mention no names one was locked?

Anyone able to shed light on it without discussing a locked thread?

Hi Pepe.

Perhaps we shouldn't discuss any court case at all just in case one of us is picked to serve on a jury in the future.

obviously, this is ridiculous. it's only ebay which limits what we can say about it here.

so what you are saying here is that no crime should be discussd in case a liar should be selected for jury duty then.

yes and they only limited it after they had the wind put up them by the constant posting of misinformation about the legalities of discussion

It takes 2 or more years for a trial, not likely for any jury members to be selected any time soon.

Often in these types of threads posters are only commenting on what they have read in newspapers. (mainstream) media anyway.

it's a story on the newspapers and there are no suppression orders in place so far as I know, relating to this, so it's fair game for public comment and discussion.

I don't think it just came from the mods without some local prompting.

It's like the completely over the top descriptions used when Ms Bishop was jostled?

and............ I just had a look at the old, old, locked thread...................

I still don't see how locking and leaving it here makes a difference, it descended into a chat about jelly beans, chocolate and dentist with vaccinations thrown in............ but realistically, the original discussion is still there for anyone to read, excluding the hostile interpersonal ones, so what is the point?

Lock and delete? v Lock and leave? and cite the possible legal consequences.
