Hit and runs

It seems to me that these are becoming more prevalent.
Is it because of population increase or the increase in a lack of care or empathy in society as a whole.
I understand that some here believe that I don't care or have empathy for others but I do just not those that are hugely rich or rampant right wingers.
It will be hard for some here to believe that a large amount of community car users ask for me to drive them to their appointments because I'm the driver they like most.

Re: Hit and runs

What the drivers don't seem to understand, is they will be in bigger trouble when/if they get caught.

And hopefully they will.

Re: Hit and runs

I don't know if they are more prevalent, measured as a %  against the number of cars now on our roads.

It would be interesting to find out.

I'd guess that the more people on the roads, the more often we'll hear of the occasional hit & run.

It's not a new thing. I can remember in later life my parents talking about the death of 'Uncle' Percy in 1962 I think it would have happened. He was my great grandmother's live in partner. Pretty racy for those days. But he was hit by a car and killed by a hit and run driver and not only that, a bystander then went and stole his wallet off his dead body.

My parents were utterly disgusted and contemptuous, more so about what they saw as desecration almost, to steal from someone as they lay dying.

It's pretty pathetic though, isn't it, that anyone would drive off instead of trying to help the person they hit.

I always wonder why-and I suspect a lot of the time it is because they know they will be in trouble. Maybe they were speeding or drunk or on drugs, maybe driving unlicensed.

PS Why would we be surprised a lot of people ask for you to be their driver?

You're probably kind and considerate to those in need and a careful driver to boot, so they feel safe.

the4masters, that's the part I never understand either.
Obviously it's bad for them if they're say drunk but if you stop and assist that goes in your favour.
A little girl in Melbourne that suffered a hit and run is related to my girlfriend.
Thankfully the woman who perpetrated the offence handed herself in after some time
