What do others think of the situation in Hong Kong at the moment with the student protests? China has indicated they will face severe consequences if they do not stop and im worried we may see another situation like Teanamin square I am just not sure China really cares enough about what the world thinks to stop them from moving military in ..its got me worried
They say they want to be a respected world power but I think they can be ruthless if they feel its needed

Need more information, what are they protesting? Even here in America, police often, really more than often violate natural human rights and run ruffshot over the constitution. Given the fact that they do respect some people's rights more than other's, many deny what is happening because it don't affect them directly yet, but I suspect it will in time. I'm worried too, but it's more of a worldwide worry for the future of humanity.
Bad things left unchecked almost always get worse. I've noticed things for me getting worse with each passing year. The economy downfall is no accedent, it's obvious at least to me this was planned.
However I can't comment too much on this Hong kong protests thing until I know what they are protesting and something about if they have anything on paper in the way of outlined rights and what they are. Our 1st, 2ed, and 4th does still carry some weight in court, even though it does no good with police who from what I understand swore an oath to it. It still won't stop someone from being abused or killed, here or in Hong Kong i'm guessing.

Aparently they want the right to choose their own candidates for goverment but the Chinese goverment will only allow candidates approved by the comunist party of mainland China
